Passing up a promotion for fear of being unqualified.

Letting someone else take the credit for your ideas or even Accepting a lower salary than you’re worth … These are all ways we self-sabotage ourselves within the work environment .

Most days, we find ourselves Multitasking,  which in fact can have a negative impact on our daily effectiveness … In turn, may lead to being overlooked for opportunities that help us move up the ladder of success.

Do you find yourself sick of repeating the same old story over and over again? This time refuse to repeat it. What happened in your past can’t be changed. But changing the past is up to you.

You have a choice of victimizing yourself over and over again with memories of defeat, or you can identify the lessons that you learned from your past and move on!

Keep yourself focused in the moment and find ways to no longer be “stuck in that story no more.”

If you are not living the life you want to live,  you are not alone.  Many, if not most people accept their lives until they outgrow the routines that once worked for them … but find no longer do.

This year, in 2012 , Break your goals into small steps that can easily be managed.  Hold yourself accountable to achieving your goals.

If you want to break those old patterns, be sure your doing everything you want to accomplish, whether you feel like it or not. You will find your self-esteem will rise and your self-respect will grow. By choosing this step, you will find it’s the best way to align and regain the balance you wish to achieve in your daily life.

On Thursday, November 3, the Kansas City Women’s Network hosted a Holiday Expo with more than 40 vendors at the Olathe Holiday Inn. They asked attendees to bring toothbrushes and toothpaste to donate to SAFEHOME.

In addition to the dental products, SAFEHOME also received 50 percent of proceeds from the raffle and 100 percent of proceeds from the silent auction.

Thanks to KCWN for hosting a fun event and for thinking of SAFEHOME!

We are asking everyone who attends our BIG event that Thursday evening to bring at least one BRAND NEW toothbrush or one BRAND NEW tube of toothpaste  - to add to our growing collection.

Items can be dropped off at the Grand Ball Room – Holiday INN in Olathe Ks - Located off I-35 & 151st Street – directly across the street from the Great Plains Mall.

Two times a year our KCWN group members come together to support local charity groups within our community.

In June our entire volunteer committee brainstormed a few worthy local charities … then after careful consideration, an unanimous decision was reached…

To support and bring awareness to a very worthy cause called SAFEHOME – Support for Survivors of Domestic Violence -

SAFEHOME’s services continue to expand to meet the growing needs of victims of domestic violence in our community. In addition to a 12-week shelter program for women, services include a specialized children’s program at the shelter and outreach counseling services. In 2010, 135 women and 127children were sheltered; 3,560 calls were received on the 24-hour hotline; 883 clients were helped at District Court; and 664 clients spent 9,063 hours in counseling through outreach services. Volunteers donated 31,972 hours in 2010.

SAFEHOME’s vision is to create a community free of domestic violence and partner abuse.

The mission of SAFEHOME is to break the cycle of domestic violence and partner abuse for victims and their children by providing shelter, advocacy, counseling and prevention education in our community.

The goal of shelter services is to provide a healing atmosphere where survivors can gain inner strength, build self-esteem, explore options and establish a life free of violence - 

At the beginning of our campaign drive the KCWN group collected items such as Curling Irons, Hair Dryers and New Hair Accessories to help the women feel more confident as they begin a new journey in their lives -

Two of our group members, Charlene Benbrook of Sassy Chic Photography and Kendri Burkett with Mary Kay partnered up to help other group members with a BRAND NEW business headshot!

On Thursday, August 11, 2011 our KCWN ladies reconnected & discovered the amazingly crisp taste of fresh chocolate and real flavor sensations with the delicious gourmet chocolate pizza from Amore Chocolate Pizza Company.

Every Month KCWN hosts their monthly Ladies Night Out Events to get to know one another on a more personal level – because we firmly BELIEVE – those who become friends are more likely to, not only do business with each other but also refer business back -

As we all know, just like in our own personal relationships – gaining this type of friendship or business relationship doesn’t happen in an instant. It takes time ..

Getting others to know you: Often we get to know others gradually, through extended contacts.  Marketing works the same way.  In most cases, a prospect or business relationship isn’t going to give you their time & attention for more than a few minutes…so you have to go with the “be present all the time, so when they need or want your services  – you’re there”

Getting others to like you: This approach is about being authentic.  Will everyone like you?  No not likely … but honestly you really don’t need everyone.  You just need enough of the right someones.

Getting others to trust you: The bigger your price tag in business is, the deeper the trust amongst others needs to be.  But no matter what you sell, trust is the cornerstone of actually making and closing the sale.  How do you get a new customer to trust you?   Well,  it’s actually pretty straightforward.  BE HONEST …  you are consistent and you actually follow up when you say you’re going to. 

Because our group has adopted this type of format – BELIEVING … it’s just as important to attend regular networking meetings as well as taking the time to nurture & grow business relationships by attending regular sched. social gatherings, because if you do …

You never know … who you might connect with if you do …
